3 Ways To Recycle Beer Cans & Bottles

Earth Day continues to grow as a worldwide phenomenon focused on promoting clean living and a healthy, sustainable habitat for people and wildlife alike. This day serves as a conscious reminder of how fragile our planet is and how important it is to protect it.
We will spare you the full history of Earth Day - but we do want to show you simple and fun ways to help protect this earth.
Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away.
As a beer drinker you often have an empty 6 pack or crate at home, but instead of throwing it away, let’s see how you can give new life to those beer bottles and cans.

Create glasses with recycled beer bottles

Glassware can be expensive at times. So let’s make it yourself! How funny would it be to shock your co-workers by drinking your morning juice from a Heineken glass. And imagine serving beer cocktails in beer glasses made from beer bottles. That would look so nice! And on top of that, they would make an excellent present for a beer enthusiast. They are super easy to make if you follow these steps:

You need a bottle, a string, lighter liquid, cold water and a lighter.

Step 1: Take any beer bottle - preferably one made of thick glass - and a string, like yarn.
Step 2: Pour lighter liquid in a container and soak the string in it.
Step 3: While it’s soaking, fill another container with cold water. Make sure it’s ICE cold, as it will help separate the bottle into two pieces later.
Step 4: Carefully take the string out of the liquid and attach it around the bottle.
Step 5: Once the knot is tight enough, hold the bottle horizontally. Light the string while rotating the bottle to spread the flame. Keep going till the flame burns down.
Step 6: Slowly lower the bottle into the cold ice bath that you made. If you did it right, the bottle should crack right where the string was placed.
Step 7: Now, take some sandpaper and sand the bottle's sharp edges until they are smooth.

Plant a tree! Or at least a succulent

Whether you are a cactus or flower type of person, it is time to decorate your house with more plants. And what better way to showcase your ecstatic ‘beer drinking lifestyle’, than by using beer cans as plant pots!

If you like fun and colorful designs, go for the Fuzzy Logic or WildSide cans. If you like a darker aesthetic, you might prefer Heart of Darkness cans.

Color Changing LED Light

Ever thought of using bottles as a lamp cover? This affordable, yet creative DIY requires the same technique as the first DIY. For this you only need some light bulbs.
If you like a natural stain, we recommend any bottle from 7 Bridges. But if you prefer a darker bottle, you should go with Belgo or Heart of Darkness. A mix is our favorite look!
